The Black Tower is, despite its name, a library located on the planet L'Main on the continent of Hilore.  Knowledge is kept here, dating back to ancient times.  Although many have journeyed here to attain some amount of fabulous knowledge kept within the tower many have failed to gain entry.

 

Some believe that the Black Tower may hold the key to attaining ultimate power.  What that power may be is a mystery.  Some of speculated that it is the most powerful spell ever created: Ultimus.  Others say that it is a fantastic weapon created to defeat any foe, immortal and mortal alike.  Still others think that it may be something else, a relic from the past that will grant untold powers unto the holder.  No one knows for sure.

 

What is certain is the knowledge that it contains.  Only a select few will be allowed access to the tower, despite there being a gate near it.  Still, those that do manage to get in, come out with the answers that they seek, whether they like the answers or not.
