Martial Artist

The Martial Artist is a profession found in the continent of Neo Ryuu where the body is trained diligently to the perfection of the Body becoming a weapon for self defense and the spirit a temple. Each Martial artist may apply to different style as well as schools but the profession teaches the basics of Martial Arts. Those seeking beyond their basic training normally take on many adversaries or is patient in learning from different schools. As a Martial artist you will work your body through limits you cannot imagine but aside from body you will also educate the mind to points of philosophy, manners, discipline, as well as wisdom. Very few can heed the calling of the Ryujin ways in the martial arts. Most fear a Martial Artist for their amazing feats of strength, dexterity, intellect, and wisdom. But all wise men know the way of a True warrior is beyond any blade or weapon a man can carry but his body and spirit known no bounds than the limits they set for themselves.  It was a young Martial Artist who spoke the words “From my training comes honor and discipline. Beyond that who knows what boundaries I may surpass… I may one day surpass my master. Why you ask do I desire to be strong? Why do I fight? A True Warrior is not only diligent to their body and mind but to their soul. I fight because I am not strong or wise. I fight for those I love and those innocent in the struggles of light and dark. I am no man aligned to any. I am no man destined for fate. I fight to be strong because I am not strong. I learn because I am not yet wise. And when I look back all I see was the one I left behind and I glance forward to who I have become.” Many from across Everlynn desire to learn the ways of the Martial Artists but times are changing and some Masters are accepting. Though as spoken few heed the calling of a Martial Artist many from across the world desire to learn the form with out weapons.

Benefits> These are basic Abilities you know of easily from your novice training when learning to become a Martial Artist. Some are set specifically for your profession as abilities you may know and how to use. Though they are rarely powerful skills they are useful skills that will assist you in your travels as an Adventurer in the world of Everlynn.

Unarmed Attack> Martial Artists unlike other professions utilize their physical combat by mastering unarmed combat. Because of this they gain a +2 ATR bonus that is a Natural bonus for them. This bonus is applied when they attempt an Unarmed Attack at an opponent.

Unarmed Defense> Martial Artists are normally swifter in evading attacks than most players. This gives a Natural +2 to Dodge Checks versus an opponents attack making them versatile in evading.

Unarmed Blocking> Since Martial Artist rely on their body more than weapons or Armor they utilize a form of parrying with their hands and legs. Regardless if a person is using a melee weapon it can be blocked to their surprise. Martial Artist train well in the art off Unarmed Blocking to avoid attack such as grasping a blade between clasp hands or slapping the flat side of weapon to push the attack away. When unarmed Blocking is used a Martial Artist would use his parry skill as a bonus to this d20 roll.

Unarmed Range Defense> Unlike most professions only the Ryujin professions are able to use this skill to snatch range ammunition like bolts, arrows, bullets for slings, and other medieval ammunition by snatching it. This is treated like any normal skill and can have up to 20 Ranks and is treated like every other skill. However regardless of the ranks and limit a Ryujin professions get +4 to this skill no matter if they have Zero or max ranks in the skill.

Light Armor> Martial Artists can only wear Light Armor and receive a +2 Dodge Bonus when working with light Armor.

Abilities> Martial Artist Unlike any other Profession can perform feats that normal bodies could not do. This is because of the focus in spirit and body among Martial Artists to go beyond the limit of their mortal bodies and go further in developing supernatural Attacks and traits that would other wise be impossible for other people.

True Unarmed> The Basic Roll for Punches and Kicks is 1d6 + your Power Modifier however the Martial Artist may learn this skill to add an Extra dice to the Unarmed Dmg Roll. This increases the Dice to 2d6 +Power Modifier and can also be purchased once more to make the Dice range a total of 3d6 + Power Modifier. This makes the unarmed damage of a Martial Artist Lethal in its own way and can be a ferocious attack. Only those of the Martial Artist Profession may learn this skill.
Cost> 30 Exp

Intense Unarmed Damage> Only Martial Artist can train in this skill to get a +1 to their Unarmed Damage equal to their Power Stat. This allows Martial Artist to increase their unarm damage tremendously since they must rely upon their unarmed attacks to injure their opponents. Each time this skill is bought it gives a +1 to the Unarmed Damage of the Martial Artist however they can only achieve a Modifier equal to their base Power Attribute. Regardless if relics or other items boost the Power Attribute a Martial Artist can only gain the bonus as high as their original Power Attribute.

This bonus regardless of the limit allows an increase of the characters rolls vs. that opponent such as Attack, Dodge, Resist, and E.Resist.
Cost> 30 Exp

Unarmed Pre-Emptive> Before Initiatives are rolled a Martial Artist nay choose to get a Pre-Emptive Action before initiatives are rolled. This can be an attack or use of Ability before battle starts. If the opponent also has Pre-emptive or First Strike the two cancel each other out till a target cannot be canceled out or all have been canceled. Also a Martial Artist may use this ability instead to add +4 to their initiative roll just in case they feel it unnecessary to go on a Pre-Emptive.
Cost> 40 Exp

High Speed> This ability gives a +1 when ever the Martial Artist makes a Movement Action during combat. When in making Movement it also Adds a +1 to the Martial Artists total Movement. This ability is useful when the Martial artist wishes to get going on Movement Actions. The Martial artist may Purchase this feat up to three times if they wish in order to get a +3 bonus that will be shown as a x with a number by the Abilities name.
Cost> 30 Exp

Special Attack> At some point the Martial artist has gotten skilled enough to create his or her own Special Attacks. This show of spiritual bind with the body creates Attacks that cannot be compared to Spells. These Attacks are extension of the body and spirit manifesting outside the martial artist. Most Special Attacks done by Martial Artist are either projectiles or extensions from regular physical attacks like combos, kicks, and punches. Some times they will create a Special Element Effect or Status Effect that can cause an Opponent minute or severe Damage. To create a Special Attack you must first give it a name as well as apply properties to it by spending Exp. A Martial artist can always upgrade a Special Attack in a later date as a show of improving their Ki Skills. These Special Attacks use Ki which is a form of spiritual Energy. Martial Artist can use Ki base Special Attacks equal to their Spirit each time a day and can restore 1 Ki each round they Meditate. Also a Special Attacks can only have one Elemental Effect and one Status Effect at the same time. Two Elemental Damages cannot be applied into a Special Attack but Two Status Effects can be applied with in reason like a Pressure Point Special Attack causes a hit and the opponent Drops in hp and on the fill round of the effect the target must make a Resist or fall unconscious. Special Attacks can never kill a person in one attack since it takes a lot to kill a character that is not a weak npc.
Cost> 50 Exp

Raise Ki> This ability allows the Martial Artist to increase the amount of Ki they can use per day by 1. This gives a +1 to the total amount of Ki per Day increasing the amount of Ki they can use in a day.
Cost> 20 Exp

Ki Rage> Balancing the Spirit and the Body the Martial artist may infuse their Spirit Attribute to the Damage of Special Attacks to further increase the Damage of their Attacks. This makes them even more powerful but is a difficult process of training.
Cost> 100 Exp

For Example you wish to through a Projectile Energy Ball the first cost gives it 2d4 Damage and each additional cost to a Special Attack gives it an additional 1d to the d4 dice. In time your basic attack may become a Super Attack or Finishing move.
Cost> 20 Exp per dice
