Runic Elves

Runic Elves are the local Elves of Mudguard’s Forests and share similar qualities like High Elves yet seem strongly tuned to their Magical Forest sites. The Runic Elf shows signs of being Warriors more than aristocrats making them intrigued for battle and is well known in challenging mythical and magical beasts. And like some of the Humans of Midguard they are known to create many runes and use a special magical runic ability that has devastating effects. Runic Elves live peacefully in their solitary forests or magical sites not bothering humans and only ask that humans do not bother them. Though not highly distasted by Runic Elves Dwarves live in Midguard as well and therefore try to live reasonably with their Dwarven neighbors. However some times small petty disputes among them cause some friction. The same are said of the High Elves and Hill Top Dwarves in Morganna but as always these are childish battles more than out breaking wars.

In their long heritage of combating mythical beasts and protecting their magical sites Runic Elves also live a life of gathering and farming. Each person is assigned a job from their parents, normally their trade, and this service is offered in helping the village or city sustain itself. Runic Elves are also of a Matriarchal Society having a Queen rather than a King rule. They appear tan to dark skin having blonde to dark brown hair. Their eyes vary in sort of gem colors making them yet another attractive Elvin race. And their height averages from 5’6” to 6’3” being the tallest of elves and some times the most masculine. Unlike their cousins they can carry various armors and equipment with no penalty and still move as swift as any other Elf.

Their Culture retains to serving the remaining gods of Midguard such as Odin, Valkyrie, Loki, and Seri. Many of the Elves mourn Elfar and the vanquish gods of Midguard but know some day a new Midguard Deity council shall be reborn. Till that day the Runic Elves serve their gods and their people with an ever vigilant blade and a determination to see that their homes are protect from that which has caused the Great War. Many of the Runic Elves can recall or remember the tales of “Blackness darker than Night itself. And nightmare never-ending, a Horror that seems to birth from the mind and soul of Darshe, a fate worst than death itself.” These words belonged to an old tale to scare children of the village from staying out to late in the dark.

Quirks: Runic Elves are more potentially Attackers or Casters having strong teachings in such arts as Battle and Magic. Unlike their cousins they are the only Elves that can Equip Various Armor and Weapons with out penalty, base on elves, and wear most things like humans.

Natural Race Abilities

Acute Hearing: Upon a Listen Check Elves gain a Natural +4 that does not hinder them in maxing out the skill Rank but does give them an advantage.

Sensitive Touch: No matter what you can tell each and every detail of an item, object, or person. This Sensitive touch all works as an extra sensory when the Elf is touching a Surface it is like a photogenic memory to recall the detail and design of an object with their touch sensory ability. Of coarse an Elf can adjust this sensory touch so as to not overwhelm them with any other touch application.

Exceptional Sight: Elves gain a +4 to any Sight Checks made and it being a natural bonus does not hinder to their max ranks and permits to add on even when 20 Ranks has been met.

Craft Rune: With the right material a Runic Elf may carve special Talismans out of Element Stones that serve as an accessory/relic. If an element Stone is chosen as red and crafted with a rune it grants the person to cause Fire Damage with their weapon for once a day. If Blue they can deal Ice Dmg fro Once a Day, if Yellow they can do Lightning for Once a Day, of Brown Color they can do Earth Dmg Once a Day, if Green they can do Poison Damage once a Day (like the status effect), If White they can deal Holy Dmg and have a 20ft alternate light source for Once a Day, and can also deal Dark Dmg if the Stone is Black. This can also be used in reverse as 10% Armor once a day from that Element type. The Crafting Difficulty is 20 in order to construct a Rune item.

Runic Slave: This ability teaches how an individual can absorb a single magical spell into their weapon and lash out with it in full return. The technique requires when a spell is thrown to make an Attack Roll and score higher than the Cast roll. If successful the spell is seized with in the weapon. However for those who cast spells they can instead do the same and absorb the spell and return 1 Spell back to their Spell pool. The downside is that the weapons total Damage must be equivalent or higher than the Spells Dmg or Total Amount of rounds it can be applied with. If not the spell is instead continues on its coarse. Keep in mind this ability can only be done if the target spell has been targeted upon you and no one else. You must also carve each letter (Craft Difficulty 15) into your weapon before you can benefit from this ability. If you failed once in a day carving the letter you may only try again the following day from the last letter you have accomplished. By that weapon the words (Runic Slave) must be completely carved by the Weapon in parenthesis.

Favorite Weapons: There are no favorite weapons among the Runic Elf though they prefer to use bladed weapons. Unless they are clerics then any mace or club will do.

Favorite Armor: Though they can use any type of Armor they prefer Medium Armor to avoid Heavy Armor Penalties as well as wearing to light of Armor for protection.
