Rules to be Aware Of
PvP Rules> Players Versus Player Actions are a difficult rule to
monitor and hold but it will be explained as well as possible. At any time a
Player may ask to perform a PvP action during a quest as long as the Host allows
PvP or Permits it. However the Host must never show favor for the player for PvP
or he and the player will be punished seeing it is abuse of Player and Host
Power. PvP kills are based that the Player who initiated PvP acknowledges the
fact they risk their characters Death, which will be Permanent Death with no Resurrection
for the character, and that the character can be pursued after or
jailed. Accidental death by another characters attack action is not initiating PvP it is an accident. This means that a player may have accidentally rolled a
bad roll that may accidentally kill another character or an attack was reflected
and hit another player by accident. This isn't PvP but the player can be brought
back to life as normal. A Player who wishes to initiate PvP must ask first the
host prior to making his PvP action so as not to interrupt the Hosts Game flow
during his Quest. If a player ignores this rule and courtesy the player is
warned and removed from the quest with out any reward. If the Host is told they
may choose to consider or decline the player the request. Only a host may
permit a player of PvP and if so the Player must state whom they are attacking
and why. With out these reasons the player may be declined the PvP action and if
their reason is uncalled for then the PvP is declined. If a person who initiates
PvP survives with out being killed he can make any story he wishes as long as
there are no survivors. However if there are he is considered a murderer and
that causes the character many problems. Possible Jail time, Death, and a Bounty
on His Head. However there are problems if he masks or hides his real characters
nick. He must tell hosts whom he really is and make Disguise rolls whenever he
enters the Tavern or a Quest. If he fails any character actively looking for
them or not can make a Intelligence check to locate that person. The reason as
to why if you just hide or do not play your character in order to protect your
character from death eventually that character will be removed from the player
list because we will assume that the character is gone, missing, or doesn't wish
to play. Bounties and Being Wanted is never removed from your character or your
play of that character. So matter how long it takes eventually the character
will be killed or captured. When deciding on PvP understand the trouble you take
and you accept the fact your character can be killed permanently.
Honor Duels>
These are Duels that pertain in regaining or
restoring Honor to a Player, his or her family, or for some one else. In an
Honor Duel the participants must state to the other party who has dishonored
them the rule set and reasons. These are for honorable players who desire to
restore honor from insult to injury. However the party can decline the honor
duel though it will look as cowardice unless they state good reasons. Honor
Duels are never to the Death and normally the Rule set is first blood or an
individual states a specific Rule set for victory. In Honor Duels No Status
Effects are permitted unless it is the Status Effect Bleeding and in an Honor
Duel a person must state what is permitted and not. If the terms are agreeable
and accepted any breaking of the rules cancels the duel immediately and the
person who does this looses immediately thus giving victory to the other party
and dishonor to that party. Honor Duels are simply for regaining and restoring honor via insult or
injury to one's honor. They are never to the Death but one
who takes it to death has not only dishonor but committed himself to death.
Death Duels> These Duels are to the final breath
of a character or characters. Death Duels end when only one or none are
standing. The Rule Sets permit anything if not everything determined among those
in the Death Duel. A Death Duel is permanent death and neither can be resurrected
if both or one dies in a Death Duel. The Rule Set must be determined
by the person who initiates the death Duel and thus must inform Hosts of it so
they may send a letter to that character who is the opposite party. Death Duels
can contain any action possible for Victory and it is to the Death a player may
Decline a Death Duel but like a Honor Duel it will be seen as cowardice unless
the player shows good reason to it. If both die in a Death Duel there is No
Victor and both are permanently slain and any interference by outside influence
is seen as a criminal act of this respected Duel and therefore whomever party
they are from shall be punished and forfeit that person in the Death Duel to
Death unless the individual that interfered takes their place. The Duel is not truly
over until one or both dies the possibility of a another person dieing
can be only by an effect that results the person to die as well. If it is a
Status Effect the Effect remains till it is over then the Duel is done whether it
resulted in a Death or Not and any Attack Action that may result in the person's
Death After the first such as a counter attack base on Physical, Magical, or
Trap must take place as an end result. Thus it is very possible for both persons
to die.
Sparring> Sparring is a simple challenge of a
person's ability with another person this is an act of training and thus any
deaths are never occurred and the person is immediately restored to max vitality
as soon as they hit Zero Health. Death Duels needn't be monitored unless the
trainees desire exp for their time training. Spars are mere minor challenges
that test the skills of each participant thus never ending in a Result of Death
or Honor. This testing of skills is done often among adventures in order to seek
flaws in their skills in combat and thus helps definitely in fixing errors or in
improving certain fields of combat.
Host Rule Set> At all times a Host must be
present for an Event in order for Player's Characters to gain Exp however
Sparring is the only one exception that doesn't require a Host. Quests, Duels,
and Events are always hosted by a Game Host that is the Staff of Serenade of the
Dark Lands and no other. There is always a Roster of whom your Hosts are and
thus any other host Nick that is not of our Roster is not a host and thus
Impersonating a Host and there fore any players or person who impersonates a
Host and is not the legal Host of the Game is permanently banned from the game
and thus all his characters are deleted. Hosts are also the only ones who can
monitor a room and perform Player base Quests. Hosts are forbidden to ever abuse
their powers and thus a player should never Abuse a Host there fore neither party
should abuse game privileges or rules. It is a Host responsibility to monitor
behavior and ensure the safety and enjoyment of our patrons as it is the
responsibility of Players to behave and enjoy their stay here in Serenade.
Player Base Events> A Player can always recommend
hosting an event for the enjoyment of others yet must have a Host to
monitor them. Players who become temp hosts do not have the rights and privileges
as Actual host there fore they should read this section carefully. A
Player Host who hosts an event must specifically host an event for other patrons
and not solely for the purpose of their personal friends and their own character
this would be seen as favoritism and thus be punishable. Second a Temp Host that
is a Player or Temp host has no ability to Punish, Reprimand, or Ban another
player hence that is why the Host is there with them during the event to do that
job and not the Player Host. A Player Hosts Rewards must be reasonable and must
not grant any type of benefit other than Money and Experience. If they so wish
they must discuss such with the host or owner. To Host a player Event a
character must submit an email of their Event, what will be in the event, a brief
background of said Event, and when they are available to host it so we can
get a Host to be there for them to monitor the adventure and offer support to
the player. Player Base Events is a privilege and not a direct benefit and right
of a Player this offers opportunities for players to be a host and to keep the
game active as long as it relates to the theme of the game. Constant Player
Hosting does not give the player a right to become a host or privileges them to
hold barters or threats to the game. Player hosting is solely for the enjoyment
of that player and the patrons of the game and is not a way to hold the game for
something or to instate you for a position. It is merely as said for the
enjoyment of yourself and other patrons including the possibility of becoming
host depending on how you Host and your Behavior.
To become a Host> Now and then we offer opportunities
for Players and anyone to join our Ranks in Hosting of Everlynn.
This will be posted on the Forum board with an Application form that players or
people can respond to via post or email. Answers will only be reviewed by the
staff and owner so there is no outside influence. People will be selected and
thus get an interview with the Owner of the game and then have a 30-day trial
period. Once a Host it does not mean you are permanently on the Team any action
after your Trial period can still be considered against you hence we stress on
honesty and trust. When it comes time to hire more Staff Members we will post
not only on the forum but we will advertise it as well among the game rooms.
These are opportunities for players and thus it is important that you do not ask
to be a host until such advertisements are done. If you really do desire to be
host prior to the time host applications are up please send an email and state
in the Brief Description box in your email < Desire to be a Host Owner
Only> The owner will personally review it so please state your reasons to
become a host and what you think you can offer to the game.
Be Original> Its okay to use characters from movies, books, games,
etc. as concepts for your character but please remain original in the idea of
your character and thus don't rip off something. It's seen as a lame reason to
role play and though you may love the character greatly you may not due the
character justice in other fans eyes. So its okay to steal a look or character
idea to evolve your character concept so remain original. However We ask when
borrowing artwork or character ideas that you have written permission of that
creator prior to registering them. Also Original Names of Specific Characters
from brand name logos games, books, etcetera are illegal. We don't want the
problem of original copyright rip off and thus we will ask you to change your
characters nick or we will be forced to remove you from the game. Example>
Hey my names Ruroni Kenshin <Character acts exactly like character of anime
series> Thus is copyright infringement of character. However if the person
takes this name but acts nothing like the original character concept and models
his own ideas and looks then its fine. We kind of want to avoid legal issues
and weak character ideas. Think along the lines if everyone wanted to be Goku
from Dragon Ball or Blade from Marvel Comics then no one would be original and
we have a bunch of wannabes around playing out a overplayed character. Not much
fun is it so try to be original and avoid stealing or borrowing others ideas but
try to be unique and use them to evolve a character of your own creation. Some times
a little copycat work can create an original work unlike the Original
character.
Common Sense and Good Judgment> When ever you
come across a situation or problem use good sense of common sense and judgment.
This isn't really a rule but try using the brain you have in that head of your
by determining situations. A good sense of judgment and having common sense
when something is wrong should tell you shouldn't do it or you should ask
some one if it's okay. Living by these two rules not only avoid trouble in game
but in life also. These are some times imperative to have when playing online
role playing games among a vast wide world net never knowing who you'll come
across. So treat this rule as a good guideline from right and wrong.
The Rules are not the Bible> Those these rules are made not to be
broken they aren't made to be followed word for word. People are human and some
times even if a rule applies there can be exception to them. What I mean is
though we are hosts we aren't uncaring machines that will follow the rule to the
teeth we also know that some times situations won't be exactly like the rules
thus exception can be made. I'm also stating to you not to just go ahead to
break and bend rules but understand they aren't the bible and testament that you
have to live by them. Just follow the rules to avoid trouble and understand they
are made for everyone's benefit and protection so that everyone can enjoy the
game. Leave the passing of Rules and enforcing them to the staff it's our job to
ensure a players right to play and their safety. To break these rules is to
break that promise to follow them and the safety and enjoyment of yourself and
others. So take the rules well and don't live by them it makes enjoyment tedious
and annoying. We do ask for you to follow and respect them and not to just
ignore them on your benefit.
Confidential Right> When the game has a problem with a character
and said character poses a problem and there are witnesses the witness has a
right to be private and protected from the offender. What this means is if you
witness a player cheating or breaking the rules while we the staff or not there
and no one is there at the time you may report it. Like the rule bellow a Player
has the right to send a complaint of a character breaking a rule and have the
right to never appear on channel when we reprimand that said player in room or
staff room. This protects that person from any irc problem with the offender.
This right is given for the protection of a witness who sends a complaint and
they have the right to not appear when we are discussing or reprimanding a
player so they do not feel that they can be attacked. The owner offers this to
witnesses because there are times were offenders have sought out who did this to
them and wanted revenge or have caused trouble for that person. There for when a
complaint or a person wishes to be a witness unseen unknown they can send an
email or a memo to a host and have the right that their name not be mentioned or
shown.
Rights of the Accused> Whenever a player is
Accused a player has these rights. They may ask what they did wrong and a Host
must state what they did wrong, An Accused has the right to ask that his
reprimand be taken to another room, and has the right to stake their side of the
story in any form in speech or email. The Accused at any time does not have any
right to break any Server or Game Rules at any time, They are not permitted to
know whom the witnesses are or the persons who sent complaint of them and if
ever the witness (es) send no response to be known or unknown they are
immediately unknown and remain so until the person states if they wish to be
known or not of the accused. Lastly the Accused has every right to prove
evidence on his behalf but Evidence held by Staff and Owner Can be asked for or
denied on reason that the evidence may lead the person to the witnesses thus
Staff and Owner only paste text that does not contain Witnesses said name and
only the name of the accused when apparent. Never names or dates of the witness
are shown and only the name of the accused if it contains the name of the
accused person in their speech. Though to the Accused it seems like a Trial but
in order to conduct this fairly for both the Accused and those Witnesses Staff
take time to ensure that no documents are falsely recorded, that stories or
rumors of false evidence is looked after, and that everyone is treated equally
and has opportunity to prove themselves innocent. We do this in order to define
the reason and cause of the Accused Actions if they ever find themselves to be
treated unfairly they may state so but it will not be by the staff since all do
what is needed to be done unbiased by player opinion or actions and do so only
on the evidence we have at hand and the statements of the Witness and Accused.
The only time a player does not go through this process is when they are
physically caught and seen by a host breaking the rules.
Badgering of the Rooms> Players have the right
to seek an Admin incase no Hosts of the game are apparent if server Rules or
Game Rules that effect the server are broken. Such rules are outside patrons
attacking the game by entering the room from either another server or game in
order to cause trouble is breaking Server Rules. These Rules are Flooding of
Rooms, In Game Wars, and illegal bots. Serenade encourages players that if
Server Rules are broken for them to do their part not for the Games sake but for
the Server as well. We are in agreement with Legend Weavers that all rooms of
the Server should be free of outside harassment and that we came to this server
seeking peace and freedom of childish immature adults and children who have
nothing better in their lives than to harass others. Whether this rule is
accepted or not is up to a person but any form of flooding, computer hacking,
virus loading, Bot transferring, into this chat room or any other is considered
harassment and Internet Terrorism which in most states of the United States is
considered a crime of federal law. If said person attacks a server or room in
such a fashion it is considered IRC Terrorism and can be fined 1,000 to 10,000
American Dollars in Fines and possibly 7-20 yrs of Jail time. There are also
people who encourage the Jail Time to be Life since some of these people who
performed these acts have destroyed other people's computers and servers which
are countless dollar amounts to those affected by it. So we encourage you
patrons of this game and Server to do your part in making our game and server a
safe place to interact in and report any such said activities whether it is in a
private room or not to the Server Admins to take care of immediately.
Age Restriction> this game is permitted for
players who are of age 16 and Up to play. Children under the age of 16 should
not enter this game with out written consent of their parent to our website
allowing the young one to play. If a Child is found playing this game underage
then we must remove you from the chartrooms and game site due to the Parental
legal rights of the United States to protect their children. Also to parents
that do not wish for their children to partake in games where violence, adult
language, and Fantasy aspects are in we do not hold responsibility if your child
enters the sight with out your permission. It is the responsibility of Adults as
well as places like this to ensure that our children's safety from ideals and
themes we do not wish them to have or know do not gain access to. So we ask that
you stress on parental lock ups in your home computer or regulate Children
access via your Home Internet Access. We do our part by warning that the game is

Rules of Serenade Tavern
Here
you will read a few things about Serenade Tavern like its origin, some
historical facts, as well as rules with in the tavern. Certain actions can be
taken in the Tavern but some actions are prohibited in the tavern. We ask that
you read this section so your characters have an idea of the tavern’s lay out
supplied by a picture below and a few rules that all characters must abide by
while in the tavern. Broken rules can lead to reprimands or in game actions to
occur so be warn what you do in the tavern may reflect in or against your favor.
Golden
Tavern Rule > In all circumstances in or out of character we ask that you
follow all rules of Serenade Tavern as well as the In Game and Game Rules. The
Tavern is the main room and lobby for all players and is not a room to break
rules or perform action in breaking the rules. The main room is a channel where
all Admins enter and all players are role playing in. Also Legend Dice and
Fire Place
record activity when there is also no one in the room or in the room.
Regardless if no one is present or is present the room is monitored so any
action you do will be recorded regardless if you enter the room or access the
room remotely. So we ask avoid rule breaking out of game in this room or any of
the others since all rooms are constantly monitored and record giving us proof
of any negative action made whether it is in or out of game whether a admin is
present or not.
Tavern
Rule 1> There is no fighting what so ever in the Tavern since Orichi the
owner wants it in good shape as best as possible. So all patrons are asked to
disarm themselves at the door and can pick up their equipment when they leave.
If a Bar Fight breaks out it will start but as soon as people ask you to stop do
so it will be easier on you if you do. Continuation of the Bar Fight may lead to
authorities to come or if none are around the Gargoyle like statues in each
corner of the room (In game description) see and record everything for Orichi so
regardless he will know and ask for you to pay for any damages of the tavern
like chairs, tables, furniture, etc. Also Magical Battles are prohibited in the
tavern and no one of any Magic Domain can use spells or magic even if their
magical items in the Tavern. There is a ward set by a Goddess that prevents any
harm or casting of magic in the tavern.
Tavern
Rule 2> There is no point in harming anyone in the tavern since all
wounds regenerate d4 Healing to the person. Also No one can or may die in the
Tavern since another set of wards resurrects them immediately. The Wards cannot
restore life that has died outside the Tavern since the life of the mortal must
have extinguished with in the Tavern grounds. Also keep in mind killing in the
Tavern is recorded by these Wards and Orichi has good confirmation of it so be
warned battling and killing can lead to fines or character jail time.
Tavern
Rule 3> All Ethics and Races are welcomed in the tavern because it is
considered a Neutral ground in Noctura. Regardless of that characters ethics or
race no matter what they have done or what they have conspired to the Tavern is
a Sanctuary and Neutral ground breaking of this rule lead with hostility will
lead to fines or possible jail time. Also if the person that enters has done a
crime or is escaping the law they may seek 1 day worth of food, sleep, and
safety. However if the authorities are told and is in the tavern the authorities
will wait for his sanctuary to be done
